Team Saatchi wins Olympus to promote the iconic PEN camera

13 NOV 2009

Team Saatchi announces that it has been appointed as the lead creative agency to promote the newest Olympus camera, the Olympus PEN E-P1.  Team Saatchi, the full service, boutique agency that is part of the worldwide Saatchi & Saatchi network, won the account following a three-way competitive pitch against incumbent agency, Red Brick Road and Bonfire Design.

The Olympus PEN camera heralds the creation of an exciting new sector in the photography market, combining as it does the photographic optics of an SLR with the size and simplicity of a point and shoot.  This technology was first developed by Olympus back in 1959, and now, 50 years on it's back.

Team Saatchi will be responsible for establishing the new, "remastered" Olympus PEN camera as the ultimate in style and substance for people who love photography.  With a planned media spend of £2 million, the campaign will be fully integrated, covering TV, print and online work and will launch mid-November this year.

"This is a fantastic new business win for us and we are thrilled to be working with such an iconic brand on a new product that unites a real sense of history with outstanding technology," says Sophie Hooper, Managing Director, Team Saatchi.

Mark Thackara, National Marketing Manager at Olympus, commented: "We are delighted to be working with Team Saatchi. This category will be huge and we needed a stand out idea to launch it to the consumer market place. This will is not just a TV spot, it is an attitude, a statement of intent.
